LANDSCAPE - STILL LIFE - PORTRAITS
Karen began her painting career as an oil painter, but once she picked up pastels she never looked back! She loves the immediacy of the pastel medium and enjoys the fact that working with pastels is 'part drawing and part painting.' She embraces the versatility of the medium & frequently experiments with mixed media techniques.
After receiving her BFA from the Dayton Art Institute she worked as a commercial artist, including several years as an illustrator for NASA. After returning to fine arts, she studied at the Arts Students League with Richard Pionk, & with such notables as Ben Konis, Sally Strand & Harley Brown.
Her award winning work is in corporate and private collections throughout the U.S., & her paintings and notecards are being carried by the Riverside Art Museum & Brandon Gallery, Fallbrook CA. www.brandonartfallbrook.com
